Malena Ernani is a recent honors college graduate from Occidental College in Los Angeles, CA, holding a BA in Political Science, a BA in French Studies and a minor in Gender, Women, and Sexuality studies.
Malena has a diverse range of experience and skills related to researching, assisting, and leading projects to support inclusion and diversity efforts by brokering efficient systems and relationships with her clients and partners. Her experience includes: conducting critical research about gender parity in local and state Mexican elections for published professors; working in public relations to serve and engage communities of color in Los Angeles through political outreach initiatives; teaching and mentoring ELL students in Title I schools both individually and through nonprofit programs; promoting events and recruitment for diversity initiatives in higher education; serving constituents in San Francisco’s District 9 as a constituent service representative; and engaging in political campaign work that supported progressive political aims to further women, immigrant, and labor rights.
She is driven by a personal and professional imperative to build sustainable relationships of reciprocity with her community’s support systems. She believes her role as volunteer outreach manager will allow her to maintain her commitment to serve others through meaningful engagement and compassionate service that promotes social equity.
